Patreon, Signed Books, and Site changes

Today’s post is one I’ve been putting off. Not because I’m trying to tank my own success, but because the change is huge in terms of investment and potential confusion. Plus status updates.

Here are the bits of good news.

  • Finished draft & edits of Royal Scales 4. <– Click for cover and availability!
  • Back issues are a lot better than they were.
  • Daughter is adorable.
  • On track for Nov’s Write Month

Here’s the mixed news.

A full on Patreon account has been started and all serial updates will be posted there. A few factors played into this choice, some of it being editing, artwork, audiobook, advertisements, etc. The Patreon will help front the costs for all of those things.

The short version is that I’m doing weekly updates of a new fiction exclusively on Patreon, until books go on Kindle Unlimited. It’s five chapters in as of this post. As a bonus (and with much work) – any time a book comes out of Kindle Unlimited (which will happen as we play around with going wide) – it will be put up on Patreon in its edited glory. The idea being that all created content will be found on that site.

I will be creating a page on this site which will link all the Patreon posts together by book. This will be confusing, messy, and probably wrong until I get in and edit stuff. In the end, it should end up a lot like the old chapter pages (and will indicate Patreon only by select spots)

There will likely be one on the Patreon as well – once I figure out the easiest way to make it look pretty.

I am open to any and all feedback regarding this decision.

What won’t change.

This site will still be used for reviews of anything that catches my fancy. It may have postings of other indie authors. There are still going to be links to all the sales and so on. I’ll back to semi regular updates for…anything going on.

"There was a weight in the early autumn air. Though they were both persistent in their presence, it was neither the oppressive heat nor the dense humidity that animated the atmosphere this day. The air was fattened, rather, with promises of things to come. Bad things."
